I think it’s a common human tendency to allow the bad things to far outweigh the good. At least I know that I tend to do that. This likely happens for several reasons. One of them is that I tend to take the good for granted. Good things happen so much and with such frequency that I merely accept them as a natural part of life, they are soon just what I expect. The bad things are thus more noticeable simply because they do not happen with such frequency, they are actually rather unique events. The cure to this is very obvious, I need to start noticing all the good things that are happening – noticing the frequency of those good things. Taking time to think about them. To spend my time throughout the day actually LOOKING for those good things. Maybe this is why I can remember as a little kid how excited I typically was when I woke up in the morning. Each day was something new! Something to be happy about. As a child life was full of wonder and beauty. That didn’t mean I never fell down and scraped my knee, it just meant that I seldom fell down. Most of the time was spent in gleeful running around and playing and discovering magical things! As I adult I still need to see that life is full of glee and beauty and the discovery of magical things! “Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:2-3
